Okay, here I am back again at the old computer, trying to write a blog with a modicum of intelligence and perception. I guess this is one of those things you do, like pounding your head against the wall until either your head hurts so much that you stop, or you keep going until the wall has a hole in it. Tip: Use a stud finder before you start, or your head will definitely thank you.
So what I want to do with this blog now is somewhat different than when I started in 2019, six years ago. In those days, we simply fictionalized the future. Now we are there, and it is worse than we ever imagined. I don't want to go over the "players." If you are alive today and reading this, then you know who the players are, and you have chosen a side, so to speak.
What I intend to do with this blog now is have a regular conversation each week between The Bloody Barrister and his alter ego, Doctor Boomer. The conversations will be new each Monday - I will try to religiously write them every Sunday (if they cooperate). While their conversations will be fictional (i.e., I will make them up to suit myself and whatever thought or analysis I am trying to communicate), it is my hope that they will be relevant and useful to the reader.
I don't want my characters to focus on people, but rather on events. Events are facts, and as the Bloody Barrister would say, "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts." (Actually, that was Joe Friday from Dragnet who said that, but the Bloody Barrister would feel free to use it, given that he had been dead for almost a hundred years before Joe said it.). As you will soon discover, Doctor Boomer is also concerned with facts, but they are sometimes different than those that the Barrister puts forward.
Although I am just a scribe for these two fictional characters, in the interest of full disclosure, I feel that I need to disclose here at the beginning a little about myself and what my feelings are about the events in our unfortunate "true reality."
I am in many ways very similar to Doctor Boomer. We were both born at the end of the 1940s, just after the end of WWII. My father was a military man who fought in both WWII and the Korean Policing Action, aka the Korean War. We both grew up in what was clearly the "best of times and the worst of times!" I serve in the military, and they paid for me to go back to college and get a professional degree, so did Doc Boomer. We are both political Independents who care more about being good people than being good at anything else. We do differ on how we look at the world. While Dr Boomer, is very opinionated, I tend to see both sides of the argument if they are well reasoned and thought out. I do not believe in "emotional facts," as do some born over 70 years ago. But I shouldn't attempt to speak for Doctor Boomer; he can do that well enough himself.
I will say this about my feelings about the world we live in today. I don't like Donald Trump, and I never have liked him. I don't like him because he doesn't respect women, children, handicapped people, people of color, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Military Service, and Sacrifice. He also does not respect the Constitution or the laws that flow from it. He also does not respect education, dedication, or history and culture. He is, in short, a Wart upon the history of our great country and culture. I have never voted for him for President, and I didn't like him in his TV series, The Apprentice, either! Having said all of this, I want to make it clear that this blog is not about Donald Trump. I am hoping this blog will appeal to all readers, whatever their political orientation.
Unlike many in our country today, I am not a "Cultural Warrior." I believe every American is free to believe whatever they wish, so long as they respect the right of others to believe differently. That is why this blog, and the recorded conversations of The Bloody Barrister and Doctor Boomer, will deal only with facts, events, and their impact on America and the world.
From here on out, my only interest is to record and publish the conversations of the Bloody Barrister and Doctor Boomer. And for the record, comments are always welcome. Always. You don't need to agree with me, but please be respectful. If you don't like what I am saying, then don't read the blog - it is that easy. See you soon!
