Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: The Blue Zoo Boogaloo

After weeks of working to correct spelling, grammar, and formatting errors, I have finally brought my latest novel to publication on Amazon.  My new novel, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: The Blue Zoo Boogaloo is now ready for order from Amazon, in all three formats, Kindle, Paperback, and Hardback.  You can find it by going to Amazon and searching for L. Logan Sharrar.  This book is intended to be a tribute to my two best friends from my early years at the Academy.  We were all just kids, and we went through a lot together.  I tried to capture the sheer excitement of being a cadet in those dynamic and politically charged years of 1968 through 1972.  After talking about how we met and some of the high points of our cadet years, I move into the present and our fictional efforts to save the Academy and our country from an unprecedented attack by a right-wing militia intent on capturing Colorado and making a free state for White Supremacy.  We win in the end, but how we get there makes for a real adventure.  In my stories the “Good Guys” always win, and they blow up or shoot a lot of bad guys to get there.  If you are looking for humor, adventure, and excitement, then this might be the book for you.  The book is dedicated to my good friend and buddy for more than 50 years, Lt Col Frank D. Pulis, who tragically died in May of this past year (2022).  He was a good and loyal friend, and I will always remember the great times that we had together.  The book is also meant to be a tribute to the USAF Academy Class of 1972, which celebrated their 50th Reunion this past September.

I truly enjoyed writing this book, which was a bit more of a challenge than normal, as I wrote it in the first person, which is harder than it sounds.  I think that it is a good, fun story that I think most of you will enjoy.  I plan to do three more books between now and the end of 2023.  The first, will be my fifth Nigel Butler novel, entitled French Fried Butler.  If you have enjoyed my other Butler novels, then you should really enjoy this one.  Most of the action takes place in France during the course of a river cruise out of Bordeaux, France.  Same mysterious bad guys as normal, the French Mafia and lots of bad guys getting their just rewards.  Like they say – don’t piss off Nigel!

In addition to the Butler book, I hope to get out two other books – Trail Markers, a book of Quotations, Speeches, and Sayings that I have been collecting for the past 50 years.  Little bit different than my normal projects, but I think that many people will enjoy it.  My wife, Vicki, will be helping me produce that one.  I also enjoyed, writing The Blue Zoo Boogaloo, so much, that I have decided to write a sequel entitled, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: Murder at the Base of the Ramp.  This will have many of the same characters as Blue Zoo, but a lot of new ones also.  It will also be more of a murder mystery, than just an adventure story.

So, a lot to look forward to, and I am pretty excited about it.  Look for French Fried Butler at or about the end of the year.  The other two to follow in 2023.  If you read, and enjoy The Blue Zoo Boogaloo, then leave a comment on the Amazon page, so others will know that it is a good read.  Special thanks to my friend and Academy Classmate, Rob Gocke, for reading an advanced copy of Blue Zoo and leaving some very nice and positive comments on my author’s page.

All for now.  Take care.  L. Logan Sharrar

Been a long year - here is my new Nigel Butler Book - Sacred Daggers

 Hey, Everyone (or Hey, Anyone):

Time continues to march on.  Vicki and I got our vaccinations and we are now free to rejoin the world if we so wish.  To be honest we are still thinking about it.  At this point there are so many nut jobs and wing nuts out there spouting incredible BS, and we are thinking it might be just as good to stay hunkered down, until the crazies get it sort out what dimension or planet or species they want to be in.  Seriously, I just wish we could go back to the old days where there were good guys and assholes, and everybody was basically decent to everyone else, unless they weren't.

Since I spent most of the last twelve months avoiding contact with just about everyone except my wife and dog, I went ahead and wrote my fourth Nigel Butler novel.  After spending the last 2 months reviewing, reformatting, and rewriting my book, I finally published it this past weekend in both eBook (Kindle) form and paperback book form.  It is really a great adventure:

Captured by the FBI at the end of Southern Fried Butler, the FBI forces Nigel and Bernie to go undercover with a Neo-Nazi / White Supremacist Group in Georgia.  As Nigel pointed out - "Given that he was picked up by the FBI right after he and Bernie had taken down a Red Neck Mafia operation and left about a dozen people dead - he really wasn't in a very good bargaining position with the FBI."  Because he looks just like an Australian Nazi Party member, Nigel has to impersonate him when he comes back to the states from Australia.  Nigel trains for the mission, and how to pass as a International Nazi Spokesperson in Australia with the very sexy Casey O'Connor.  After two months of training, Nigel passes his "final exam" by killing the head of the Australian Nazi Party.  Nigel then comes back to the states where he meets up with Bernie at the Nazi's training Camp - Fort Liberty.  Nigel seems to fit right in, and makes a good impression on the camp commander's wife, who is an ex-porno star from Eastern Europe, otherwise known as, "Big Gulp."  If they are found out, Bernie will be shot, and Nigel will be tortured, burned alive, and have his throat cut by a Nazi dagger that once belonged to Heinrich Himmler, the leader of the SS.  What could possibly go wrong?

The new book is titled: Sacred Daggers, and it is a great read, even if I do say so myself.  look for it on Amazon.com under "L.Logan Sharrar" or simply "Sacred Daggers."  Oh and don't worry, I am already working on the next Nigel Butler adventure, French Fried Butler, which will be out in 2022.

New Book Just Published

Just published my third novel in the Nigel Butler Series.  The book is titled “Southern Fried Butler” and it is available in Kindle version and paperback on Amazon.com.  I think that this is my best book so far, but I am biased.

Synopsis:

Sir Nigel has returned from England where he saved the Royal Family from two different terrorist attacks.  His Life is not what he would have expected it to be, however.  Despite his best efforts, he is estranged from his twenty something girl-friend, who just happens to be his attorney, for reasons that he doesn’t fully understand. His employer has disclosed that she is in love with him and that she intends to run for Congress.  His best friend needs him to go down to Tennessee and help him get revenge on a rogue drug dealer and murderer.  Nigel feels like he is in a corner with nowhere to turn.  Welcome to Tennessee, give me an order of Southern Fried Butler, and make it “extra crispy.”

New Post from L. Logan Sharrar

Recently posted the following on Facebook following the publication of my second novel On Her Majesty's Domestic Service.

Alright, I don’t know how to say this, so I will just say it – “I am an author.”   Surprise.  So, all that time I spent up in my office on my computer the past year, I was not just surfing the internet, I was actually writing a book.  Well, that is not completely true – I was actually writing two books.  The first book was entitled “Butler” and introduced a character who was ex- SAS (You know, those British guys who are similar to U.S. Navy SEALS) who became a butler after he left the military.  I finished the book, Butler early this year, and self-published in April on Amazon.  The second book is a sequel and follows Nigel Butler as he goes undercover in the Queen’s household at the Winter Palace to protect her and her family from a terrorist plot.  This second book is entitled, “On Her Majesty’s Domestic Service.”  I published “Domestic Service” this past week as a Kindle book on Amazon.com.  The paperback version will be available this coming week.

Just to be clear, neither of these is the “Great American Novel.”  They are both meant to be easy reads, primarily for entertainment and relaxation.  They are similar to stories from Lee Childs about his character “Jack Reacher,” although my character is significantly older and, in my opinion, does not take himself nearly as serious as Mr. Reacher does.  The books were fun to write, and I think that they should be fun to read.  They are not particularly expensive in that the Kindle versions cost $2.99 (or less) and the paperback versions cost $9.95.  You can find them on Amazon.com and they are listed under my pen name “L. Logan Sharrar.”

I like writing, and I have plans to write at least four more novels in the Nigel Butler Series.  I learn something about the art of writing every time I sit down and create a new novel.  So yes, someday I may write the Great American Novel, but not yet.  And just so you know, I don’t only write the stories, I design the book covers, also.   I designed both the Kindle versions and the paperback versions.  I personally think that they are pretty cool in their own right.

Well, there you go – that was my big announcement – I am a “published author.”  And let me be perfectly honest, it is a good thing that I am retired from both the Air Force and Lockheed Martin, because you simply don’t make that much money writing, especially when you self-publish (which is what you do on Amazon for the most part).  Not complaining, just saying that while “self-publishing” is very satisfying, it is not real profitable.  It is a fact that every year more than a million new books are published in this country.  Having someone select your book out of a million is well – tricky.  One way to help people find your books, is to have those who have read them, rate them and provide comments on Amazon.  Therefore, if you do decide to read one or both of my books, I would greatly appreciate a rating and perhaps an evaluation to support the rating after you have finished the story.

The Bloody Barrister speaks.

The Bloody Barrister says:

Sorry about the lack of content on this blog site, so far.  I have been tied up writing my second novel, and frankly have not been very much interested in anything else.  I have now seen the light, or a light, as the case may be, and I will make every effort to share my thoughts on a daily basis.
